I was born in 1979 in Guatemala-City, Guatemala, in an international family. My father is Guatemalan, my mother was French-German. The cultural differences were big and the confrontations due to these dissimilarities a continuous topic of discussion.
The love for art in all forms always united us and was a bridge over our cultural differences. That is why I not only grew up amongst the paintings of the Guatemalan artists Efraín Recinos and Carlos Mérida – both my father’s relatives – but also with poetry, dance and music.
From my mother I inherited the love for animals and nature, themes found in my art. My children’s stories are also inspired by my mother and the stories she used to tell my brother and me.
My art is a mixture of elements of both of my childhood’s worlds. These are expressed through the motives, the colors and the techniques.
Switzerland is my home-country since 2001. I live in the Grisons with my husband, where I can enjoy nature and peacefulness.
